Ingredients for Instant Pot French Onion Soup

If you have vegetable oil on hand, you can substitute it for the olive oil.
I used medium-sized Walla Walla sweet onions.
Brown sugar: This truly gives the soup a rich, sweet flavour.
Dry white wine: This adds more flavour to the soup by deglazing the bottom of the pot! If you’d rather use extra beef broth, you can do so.

Beef broth: This is high in protein and gives the soup a deep, hearty flavour.
Even if you don’t know what Worcestershire sauce is, you shouldn’t leave it out of the recipe!
Garlic, minced: Garlic is essential. I may adore it, but it truly does add a lot.
Use salt and pepper to season food to taste.
Purchase one or two baguettes or use this recipe to create your own at home.
For French onion soup, Gruyere cheese is an absolute necessity! There’s a reason why it’s customary for french onion soup. This cannot be substituted.

Let’s Make Some Soup!

To caramelise the onions, add the brown sugar and continue cooking for an additional 5 minutes. Stir after adding the garlic.
Sautéing with wine: Add the white wine and continue cooking until all of the wine has cooked off. Select cancel. Try to prevent letting the food brown and burning the pot’s bottom.
Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, bay leaves, thyme, salt, and pepper after stirring in the seasonings.
Cover and lock the lid, making sure the pressure valve is in the sealed position.
Cook for 10 minutes on high.
Natural discharge: Before opening, let the steam naturally escape from the Instant Pot.
Bay leaf removal: Take out the bay leaf. then give it a taste and add more

What to Serve It With

Salad: Soup and salad should always be served concurrently! Serve this soup alongside a wedge salad or a tomato basil salad. They are very simple and wonderful!

Bread: Although a great baguette is already placed on top of the soup, you can still serve rolls or breadsticks separately.
Meat: This soup makes a delicious start to any meal! I particularly enjoy it before a steak, chicken, or pork chop meal.

Vegetables: For a side dish to go with this soup, consider preparing some mashed potatoes, asparagus, or carrots. They really go nicely together!

How to Store Leftovers

Once the French onion soup has cooled, put it in an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator. It could last for three days.

Reheat: Set your oven to 350 degrees when you’re ready to consume your leftovers. Put the soup in bowls that can be baked.

Once the soup has been added to each bowl, sprinkle each one with cheese before setting them on a baking pan. The soup should be heated all the way through after about 15 minutes in the oven. Enjoy!
